Rocket City Mustang Club / Valley Vettes Joint Fall Cruise

October 28, 2006

Ann and I want to thank everyone who came out for this year's annual RCMC/Valley Vettes' fun rally. The event was another course-following exercise and no one got lost! It was about 110 miles and took us up to the Huntland, TN area and back down AL Hwy 65 to US 72. This year we played Dominos. Each car got two Domino pieces at the start, rest stop in Huntland, a checkpoint in Gurley and at the finish at Mullin's restaurant in Huntsville. The winners this year were Zeke & Barbara Jenkins of Valley Vettes.

Of note was the amazing feat by Ralph Bischof's Mustang. While in Huntland, Ralph noticed that his oil pressure had dropped to zero. A bevy of Mustangs and Vettes stopped with him to help if they could. But it appears that his oil pump drive broke. We offered to cart him back home, but he didn't want to leave his Stang up there and have it hauled home later. He drove it all the way back to his home, about 60 miles, and it never smoked or increased temp. That's quite a testament to the small block Ford. Special thanks to Bill and Kim Tucker for escorting Ralph home.
