It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. At least that was the feeling in downtown Huntsville on Saturday (Dec. 1) as 134 groups lined up in the staging area waiting for the start of the WAAY-TV 31 Days of Christmas Parade. Once again, Rocket City Mustang Club came out to show off our beautiful rides, share in some good conversation, and wave at the crowd. No one can say there was a shortage of food or drink! Vic made hot drinks and hot dogs while Bill T. and I brought in other necessities of donuts, bagels, cookies, sodas, etc. And special thanks go to Leslie Hammonds for providing the sausage balls!
Nine cars represented RCMC this year and almost as soon as we got to the staging area news crews were all over us with interviews, pictures, and video galore. We really made a great impression and should get some added feature time on the news and the parade coverage which airs Dec. 16th and again on Dec. 25th (ummm, that’s Christmas Day).
Our entry was deeeep in the back and it seemed we’d never get out of lot K. However, things went smoothly and we were off. The route wound through downtown Huntsville for a total just over 2 miles. So many people came out and no one left in anticipation of the RCMC entry. Okay, maybe they were hanging out to see that heavy set guy with the beard and red suit.
Besides a few overworked clutches, we had great fun and excellent weather. Afterwards, several of us set off to Cracker Barrel for a late lunch and more good times and food! Maybe that should be our club’s motto; never a dull moment and plenty of food! If you weren’t there, you missed all the fun!
