Mike's 1965 Coupe

1964 1/2 Coupe, 6 cylinder (170 cubic inch "U" code), 3 speed manual with Air! I bought it for $640 at the old Midway Auto auction near Madison, AL in 1979. I drove it for about 2 years. I put a $199 MAACO paint job put on it - Poppy Red and sold it for $1500. When the prospective buyer came to look at the car, I had it in my garage. At the time it had started to burn a little oil. When he started it up, it looked like someone had set off a smoke bomb in the garage! Nevertheless, he bought the car and drove it daily for several more years. I Got my first two speeding tickets in this car on the same street!

Had a few interesting occurences in this car:

• Leaving my highschool basketball banquet I decided not to cross the median at the regular point, but made my own shortcut through the grass. I didn't realize the grass covered a good sized ditch in which I became stuck - some guy with a fourwheel drive truck and winch pulled me out - VERY embarrassing!
• Coming home from KMart one afternoon, I had the hood fly up and seriously bend each of the attaching corners.
