Keith's 1989 5.0 LX

In 1989, I bought a new 5.0 LX hatch-back Mustang. It had a 5 speed and the usual power window / door lock option package. The color was Deep Shadow Blue Metalic with medium Gray cloth interior. 1989 was the first year for the 50 state MAS Air sensor, world class T-5, the GT seats in the LX 5.0, and the last year without airbags.

I had suffered with an 87 Trans Am previously and really enjoyed the comfort and speed of the Mustang. I frequently entered SCCA Solo II (Autocross) competitions and wound up collecting enough points of the year to win the Central Florida Regional championship for my class. I tried bracket racing once and was quickly eliminated when I spun the tires. After moving to Alabama, I gave in to family pressures and swapped it out for a Taurus Wagon. It would be many years before my next Mustang.

I remember that car fondly as the best car I ever owned.
